Police warn of lotto scam
PERRY - A Perry woman recently lost $1,500 in a bogus Canadian lottery scam.Her loss and two other complaints last week involving the same type of scam prompted Perry police Thursday to issue a consumer warning: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

There's a warning concerning a couple of scams.The first one happened in Groton. Police say a woman received a letter with a check for more than $3,800 and instructions on how to collect 100-thousand dollars in lottery winnings.

Scam artists strike in Ottumwa
(OTTUMWA) An Ottumwa woman hit by scammers is speaking out to help others. Donna McDaniel recently fell victim to a check scam, and lost thousands of dollars. She contacted KTVO to make sure that others don't get duped.

Lottery office urges Hoosiers to beware of lottery scams
The Hoosier Lottery has become aware of a fraudulent lottery circulating around Indiana. The phony lottery sends e-mail notifying potential victims that they have won $650,000 in the “Hoosier Online Lottery 2005 end of the year Promotional Drawing.”
